MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the ideal candidate:
-leads the daily implementation of business development in Sulafa
Embroidery Centre. Initially, this includes implementing an information
and financial reporting system to computerize Sulafa’s production and
sales information. Upon the adoption of the business plan, additional
business development responsibilities will be finalized, but they are
likely to include strengthening the processes of embroidery and
production of goods; managing inventory planning, and building the
business understanding of Sulafa’s stakeholders.
-leads the fulfillment and shipment of orders: production scheduling,
product labeling, packing, export documentation and related
communications with support from a Manager and the Business and
Livelihoods Consultant,.
-Manages Sulafa’s product and client information, catalogue and website.
Ensure that images and information are up to date and that all
presentations of Sulafa products are consistent with the information
system.
-Liaises with UNRWA operational departments: Procurement, Finance, Communications and Logistics.
-Assists with reporting and evaluation of Sulafa’s progress toward
financial sustainability. This is likely to include the preparation of
information for Board, Finance, donors and others.
-Performs such other duties as may be assigned, including support to the operations of Sulafa’s shop.
PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
-Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject.
-At least four years of experience in a relevant field: community
development, livelihoods, business (formal or informal), frontline work
with women’s income generation, craft, marketing, management.
-It will be highly advantageous to have experience in at least one of
the following areas: formal or informal business, marketing, management,
information management, product design and production, livelihoods or
income generation.
-Business experience, including international marketing
-Frontline experience with women’s reality in Gaza
-Very good command of written and spoken English and Arabic.
-Mature, balanced and positive approach to work, in order to enter a well-established team.
-Integrity and fairness, cultural and gender sensitivity, showing strong
corporate commitment and complies with United Nations code of conduct;
-Very accurate math, spreadsheet or other skills relating to information management and accounting for funds.
-Knowledge of websites, digital photography, social media and other marketing technologies is advantageous.
-Producing timely, detailed outputs, exercising sound judgment/analysis, and developing creative solutions;
-Excellent communication skills: speaking and working persuasively among
people of very different socio-economic groups; from English-speaking
marketing clients to embroiderers;
-Should enjoy design, fashion, and handmade goods.
-Diligent, resourceful, able to follow through and report on complex plans without supervision;
-Excellent organizational skills; ability to handle multiple tasks
-Possession of a valid driving license advantageous.
CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
-Basic Salary: Monthly basic salary $1,397.20; plus a currency adjustment factor (present rate 19.5%).
-Contract Duration: six months. Extension of contract is subject to availability of funds.
-Other conditions of service and benefits may apply.
-A regular staff member can apply to this LDC post but will not be
allowed to assume such post through secondment as he/she needs to leave
his/her current post to accept LDC appointment.
EQUIVALENCY
Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant academic
qualifications, professional training and progressive work experience
may also be considered.
ASSESSMENT METHOD
Qualified candidates will be required to undergo tests and a competency
