AMIDEAST is an international, non-profit, educational organization in the West Bank and Gaza
with offices throughout the Middle East and North Africa. AMIDEAST is recruiting a Monitoring
and Evaluation Officer for a USAID-funded School Improvement Program (SIP) to be based in its
Ramallah office.
Job Title: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, SIP
Immediate Supervisor: Teacher Education Manager
Starting Date: March 5, 2014
Working Hours: 40 hours per week: 8:00-4:00 or 9:00-5:00; Sunday-Thursday
Overall Position Responsibilities: The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will be based in Ramallah,
and work with other members of the Monitoring & Evaluation Team and receive general supervision,
administrative guidance and day-to-day supervision from the Teacher Education Manager.
Specifically, the position is responsible for the following duties:
-Working collaboratively with M&E Team to plan M&E strategy and activities;
-Analyzing and interpreting program data;
-Working with M&E Team to plan department activities and reports;
-Writing/contributing sections to quarterly and other program reports;
-Drafting M&E forms in Arabic and/or English;
-Conducting observations of program activities and interviews with program participants;
-Serving as a liaison with Ministry of Education staff, especially for the Monitoring & Evaluation
Task Force;
-Managing Geo-MIS data review and quality control;
-Translating from written/spoken Arabic-English and vice versa; and
-Providing support to senior M&E staff and working together with other officer-level staff.
Qualifications:
-University degree (Master’s preferred) in development, education, evaluation or relevant discipline;
-At least 5 years of experience in an office environment; USAID experience preferred;
-At least 3 years of experience in the monitoring and evaluation of programs; data analysis and
reporting;
-Excellent skills in both written and spoken English and Arabic;
-Experience with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, and experience with SPSS (preferred);
-Precise attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multi-task; and
-Ability to work under pressure.
