The
Women’s Affairs Technical Committee is currently seeking applications
from eligible applicants for the post of Media and Advocacy Coordinator-
Gaza Office.
WOMEN’S AFFAIRS TECHINCAL COMMITEE
The
Women’s Affairs Technical Committee (WATC) is a women’s
non-governmental organization established in 1992 with a vision that
aspires for “a democratic and free Palestinian society that ensures plurality, social justice and equality between women and men.”
WATC’s mission is to coordinate efforts of interested and committed
stakeholders, partner and associates to mobilize the public to achieve
socio-political influence and realize political, civil, social, economic
and cultural rights of women’s in armed conflicts and natural disasters
under occupation.
Our
approach is to empower women’s grassroots committees, CBOs, and women
generally at the intellectual, practical and organizational level to
achieve binding national legislation consistent with international
covenants and agreements, mainly the Convention on Elimination of all
forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).
WATC
endeavors to empower these agencies to stand by women claiming their
rights and pressure and monitor decision-making bodies with obligations
to ensure they perform their duties. We emphasize that enabling women
achieve their full rights requires intensive popular struggle against
the occupation and its practices; it also needs national mobilization of
women to participate in the struggle of their people alongside with
standing against societal and patriarchal forms that hinders women’s
value and rights. We therefore need to express clearer and more
audacious stances in combatting violations of women’s rights by any
party.
